The Fall - Opening Credits Timeline

In our lesson we decided to do a timeline of an opening sequence, the reason for doing this was so that we could observe the seconds between each title e.g. producer, actors and caster director and use similar timings in our own opening credits.

research 5 The pacific

I find this shot effective as the chalk drawing crossfades into a real soldier at war. I think this is an interesting and clever opening credit as it is also unusual.
I like this shot as it brings the chalk drawing alive and almost looks as if it is real. It is also effective how the image of the drawing crossfades itnto a real life clip.
I like this shot as although it is just a drawing lighting is used and flickers from white to dark. This makes the drawing come alive and sets a scry atmosphere.

I like this shot as the chalk drawing looks like the exploision of bombs and the red looks like it represents blood.

I like this camera angle, becuase the close up of the chalk shavings looks like debris and dirt form the bombs at war.

I like this shot because the blackness of the figures shows their silhouettes and the red backround is very bright in contrast with the black used. The bits in the air look like chalk.

research 6 Deadwood

I like this camera angle used because you can see the motion of the wheels and water. this also makes the clip look old as cars are not being used.
I like this shot because thw white backround empahsises the red blood and makes it looks a lot more gruesome.

I like this camera angle as it is slightly slanted, I also like the reflection of the horse. In this clip the horse disappears this gives a spooky atmosphere.
I like this shot as it makes you feel in a inclosed space like the chickens.
Through out the opening it goes back and forth from a horse running, I find this effective as it shows the horses eyes. This clip also makes me want to know more about the story.
I like this camera angle as you can see the movement of the grains and in the clip the camera rotates to show different angles which I find effective.

research 10 blackstone -

I like this shot because it gives the impression that there is something on the camera lense but you can still see the picture in the backround, this shows depth.
I find this shot interesting because the colours make it look old fashioned and almost like a non moving picture.
I like this shot because it shows the cave drawings at a slanted angle which I find interesting. The leaves and twigs growing on top of it also shows that it is ancient
I like this shot because the camera is focusing on the teeth wich is mysterious and my eye was drawn to the mouth and is scary.
I like this shot as it looks like leaves and trees are growing over the page which gives the impression it is old.

I like this shot as it compares with the old and the new as the next shot is indians on horses where in this shot it is children on bikes.

research 7 The fringe

I find this shot interesting as the light in the backround highlights the strands of hair and makes you feel inbetween them.
This shot is very fast but effective as it shows you that it is about nature becuase of this image shown and the dark backround contrasts between the light flower.
I find this shot interesting becuase you can see the movement of the water droplets and there is a maths sum in the backround makes the atmosphere mysterious.
I like this shot as it tricks the eye as the hand has 6 fingers which is abnormal and makes the image interesting.
I like this clip as it is an interesting way to create the title as you are intreaged to see what word the letters are going to say and the clip is almost mesmerizing
I like this shot because of the flashes of lightning arecreate a scary atmosphere and contrast between the dark sky, the plane also looks very small compared to the clouds and sky.

research 8 six feet under

I like this camera angle as it shows a close up of two hands which are coming apart in slow motion and the tree in the backround is in the middle. I find that the slow motion used in this clip is effective as it exagerates the seperation between the two hands
I like this shot because unusual lighting is used, which creates a creepy atmosphere as the clip shows a dead persons feet.
I like this camera angle as it shows the hand gets bigger as it goes behind the glass, this makes the clip seem mysterious and almost scary.
In htis clip you see the flowers wither and die. I think this represents death as in the previous clip it shows someone who has died.
I like this camera angle because you can almost see inside the eye. In this clip this person is dead and having their eyes open creepy atmosphere.
I like this shot because the black figure in the backround slowly disappears which is also creepy and may also represent death.

research 4 Boardwalk

I like this shot because the slow motion shows the waves crashing on the rocks which is effective
Part of this shot is sped up and is effective as clouds normally move very slowly it suggests time is going quicker.
I like this camera angle asyou can see the glass bottles on the beach and in the water. This shot also makes you feel as if you are lying down on the sand looking over at the sea.
I like this shot as it shows a close up of the lightening flickering in the mans eyes which is effective.
I like this shot as the sky all of a sudden goes dark and lightning appears this creates a misterious and dark atmosphere and highlights the brightness of lightning.
I find this shot interesting because of the waves weaving in and out of the glass bottles and the dark lighting used is mysterious.

research 9 dexter

I find this shot interesting as the white sink behind highlights the redness of the blood, this gives a gruesome effect.
This shot is of a piece of tissue absorbing the mans blood, I find this shot interesting because it make it look like there is more blood than there is and is gruesome.
I find this clip homorous as he is eating breakfast when a red spot falls on the plate, this is made to look like blood but it is actually tomatoe sauce.
I find this shot interesting because although it is just fruit being squeezed it is somehow  made to look gruesome when it is being squeezed.
I like this shot becuase it highlights the features of the man and this clip seems like most of the clips in this opening sequence it seems strange although he is just putting his t-shirt on.
I like this shot becuase it gives the impression that it is cutting skin but actually it is just meat, although I still find it looks gruesome. I also like this camera angle as it shows the deep cuts in meat.

Preliminary Task Practice

This is my preliminary task practice. We edited clips in order to practice using final cut pro. In this Preliminary task I would have liked to of added music to create atmosphere but I could not find any music.  I found doing this task taught me how to edit clips and how many changes it makes by just cutting sections from the video to.

research 2 Damages

I like this shot becuase the figure has half her face covered by a shadow and the other half is in the light, this gives a creepy effect.
In this clip the footage is sped up and then goes into slow motion, this shows the business of the streets. The black and white clip makes the streets look creepy.
I like this camera anlge as it shows the location well and the lighting also creates a dark atmosphere. This clip makes you feel as if you are low down and looking up at the bridge.
I like this shot as it is very short but effective as it shows the blood on their hands which is mysterious and gruesome.
I like this shot because the lights from the building flicker which I find effective. It also shows the contrast between the bright lights and dark sky.
I like this camera angle as it shows the clouds moving quickly across the sky and the bright colours contrast between the dull ones in other parts of the clip.
